# Cloud backup

> What Yomates backs up to your account, how to back up, restore or delete it yourself, and what happens on a new computer.

## What the backup holds

While you're signed in, Yomates backs up your work to your account about every ten minutes, and uploads only when something changed.

The backup holds your chats and group chats, agents and their settings, routines, unsent drafts, skills, each agent's memory and the team memory, pages, canvases, video projects, and the files in your workspace folder.

It never holds these, so on a new computer you sign in to them again:

- passwords and saved details ([see and edit saved details](/docs/saved-details))
- your sign-ins to websites in the agents' browser
- the sign-ins and API keys for your AI
- the MCP server's token ([MCP server](/docs/developers))

## Back up, restore or delete it yourself

1. Click your name at the bottom of the agent list, then **Settings**.
2. Open **Account**. The **Backup** row shows when the last backup ran.

In that row:

- **BACK UP NOW** uploads at once.
- **RESTORE** turns into **REPLACE THIS COMPUTER’S DATA**. Click it again to bring the backup back. The app restarts and downloads your files, counting them in the same row.
- **DELETE** turns into **DELETE FROM THE CLOUD**. Click it again to delete the backup from your account. Backing up then stays off until you click **TURN ON**.

> [!WARNING]
> A restore replaces this computer's chats, agents and settings with the backup's. Files already in your gallery, uploads, recordings, videos and downloads stay, and the backup's are added beside them.

## On a new computer

When you sign in on a computer with no Yomates data and your account has a backup, Yomates asks before it uploads anything. **Restore your backup** shows the backup's date:

- **RESTORE** brings it back and restarts the app.
- **START FRESH** keeps this computer as it is. Its next backup then replaces the one in your account.

## Two computers

Two computers take turns with one backup rather than sync: it holds what the computer that uploaded last had. A computer that hasn't seen the other's newer backup doesn't replace it. Its **Backup** row says **A newer backup from another computer** instead. To replace that backup anyway, click **BACK UP NOW**, then **REPLACE THE NEWER BACKUP**.
