# Agents and routines

> Fixes for when a routine didn't run, an agent stopped, a site wants a code or a captcha, or an agent on Windows can't run a command.

::: details Routines didn't run, or agents stopped

A routine (a job that runs on a schedule) didn't run, an agent stopped partway, or a Telegram message got no answer.

**Why:** Yomates runs on your computer, not in the cloud. While the computer sleeps or Yomates is quit, nothing runs. Closing the window doesn't quit it: Yomates stays in the menu bar (the tray on Windows and Linux) and keeps working.

**What to do:** keep Yomates running and the computer awake while work is due. After a gap:

- A routine set for a time of day runs if the app is open within an hour of that time. Otherwise it waits for the next day.
- A one-time reminder runs as soon as the app is open again.
- An agent's chat is kept, so you can ask it to carry on.

::: details A site asks for a code or a captcha

The agent stops on a page that wants a code sent to your phone or email, or a captcha.

**Why:** the code goes to you, not the agent. The agent tries a captcha itself first, with a stronger model if needed, but some still need you.

**What to do:** the agent asks you in a panel above the message box. Pick an answer there, or type the code into the message box (it reads **or type your own answer**) and send it.

Or enter it on the page yourself:

1. Open the agent's browser.
2. Click **TAKE OVER**.
3. Enter the code.
4. Click **HAND BACK**.

::: details Windows: an agent can't run a command

An agent reports "No bash shell found" when it runs a command.

**Why:** older versions of Yomates ran commands only through Git Bash, which comes with Git for Windows. Current versions use Windows PowerShell when Git Bash is missing.

**What to do:** update Yomates. It checks for an update each time it opens and installs it when you quit, so quit and reopen it after the update notice. To have agents use bash instead, install Git for Windows and reopen Yomates.
