# Telegram, Slack and Discord

> Connect a bot of your own so you can give your agents work from your phone and get their answers there.

**Remote control** connects a bot of your own on Telegram, Slack or Discord to Yomates. You write to the bot from your phone, the agent does the work on your computer, and the answer comes back in the same chat.

> [!NOTE]
> The app itself talks to the bot. It answers only while Yomates is open on your computer and the computer is awake.

## Set up your bot

1. In Yomates, open **Settings** and choose **Remote control**. Telegram, Slack and Discord each have a card there.
2. Click **CONNECT** on your app's card. A setup panel opens under the cards with three numbered steps.
3. Follow the steps for your app:

::: tabs

@tab Telegram

1. Under **Create a bot**, click **CREATE BOT**. @BotFather opens in Telegram.
2. Make a bot there and copy the token it gives you.
3. Under **Paste its token**, paste the token into the box and click **CONNECT**. If the token is wrong, the panel says why right under the box.
4. Under **Open the bot and press Start**, click **OPEN IN TELEGRAM**. Your bot opens, with a pairing code in the link.
5. Press **Start**. The bot replies with the agent you're talking to and the list of commands.

@tab Slack

1. Under **Create a bot**, click **CREATE BOT**. It makes a Slack app with everything it needs.
2. Install the app to your workspace.
3. Under **Paste its two tokens**, paste the bot token (`xoxb-`, the Bot User OAuth Token from **OAuth & Permissions**) and the app token (`xapp-`, an app-level token with `connections:write` from **Basic Information**). Click **CONNECT**.
4. Under **Send the bot this code**, click **COPY**.
5. Send the code to the bot in a direct message.

@tab Discord

1. Under **Create a bot**, click **CREATE BOT**. The Discord Developer Portal opens.
2. Make an application there and copy the token from its **Bot** page.
3. Under **Paste its token**, paste the token into the box and click **CONNECT**.
4. Click **ADD TO SERVER** and add the bot to a server of yours.
5. Click **COPY** beside the code and send the code to the bot in a direct message.

:::

Once it's paired, the square in the card's corner turns green, the card shows your bot's @name, and **OPEN** takes you to the chat. If you close the panel before the last step, **FINISH SETUP** on the card opens it again. The bot answers only that chat and ignores everyone else.

## Write to your agents

Anything you write goes to the agent you're talking to (at first, the top agent on your roster), as if you had typed it in the app.

| Command    | What it does                                                              |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/agents` | Lists the team and marks who you're talking to. |
| `/to Name` | Talk to another agent from now on.                                        |
| `/stop` | Stops what that agent is doing. |
| `/clear`   | Starts that agent's chat over.                                            |
| `/compact` | Folds a long chat into a summary. `/compact all` does it for every agent. |

In Slack, start each command with `/yomates`, for example `/yomates stop`.

- A question with choices arrives as buttons. Tap one to answer.
- Reply to any agent's message to answer that agent, without `/to` first.
- An agent that needs a login saved tells you to open the app on the computer. Passwords are never typed into the bot's chat. See [How agents use passwords](/docs/passwords).

## Get every reply

By default, only answers to what you sent through the bot come back there. Turn on **Every reply** on the card to receive everything: routine reports, answers to what you type in the app, and questions, each under its agent's name.

## Disconnect the bot

1. Open **Settings** and choose **Remote control**.
2. Click **DISCONNECT** on the bot's card.
3. Click it again to confirm.
