# Installing and opening

> Fixes for when the app won't install or won't open on Mac or Windows.

::: details macOS says the app can't be opened

You open Yomates and macOS only says it can't be opened, with no button to open it anyway.

**Why:** the installer reached you through a messenger such as Telegram or WhatsApp, or through AirDrop. macOS marks files saved that way and refuses to open them.

**What to do:** download Yomates again from [yomates.ai](https://yomates.ai) in your web browser and install that copy.

Or open **Terminal**, paste this line, press Return, and open the app again:

```
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Yomates.app
```

> [!NOTE]
> Yomates needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer). On an Intel Mac a different message says the app isn't supported, and nothing above changes that.

::: details Windows warns about an unknown publisher

When you run the installer, a blue **Windows protected your PC** window says the publisher is unknown.

**Why:** the installer isn't signed with a publisher certificate yet, so Windows doesn't recognize it.

**What to do:** click **More info**, then **Run anyway**. Do this only for an installer you downloaded from yomates.ai.

:::

::: details Windows shows no Run anyway button

The **Windows protected your PC** window has only **Don't run**, or Windows says Smart App Control or your administrator blocked the installer.

**Why:** some Windows settings block unsigned apps instead of warning about them.

**What to do** depends on the message. Do this only for an installer you downloaded from yomates.ai.

- **Only "Don't run"?** Click the small **More info** link under the text first. **Run anyway** appears after it.
- **The message names Smart App Control:** open **Windows Security** → **App & browser control** → **Smart App Control settings**, choose **Off**, then run the installer again. It has to stay off while you use Yomates, or it blocks the app each time it opens. Turning it off lowers protection for every app, and some Windows versions don't let you turn it back on.
- **It says your administrator or organization blocked the app:** the computer is managed by your company or school. Ask whoever manages it to allow Yomates.
- **Anything else:** right-click `leviosa-<version>-setup.exe` in your Downloads folder and choose **Properties**. On the **General** tab, tick **Unblock** at the bottom, click **OK**, and run the installer again.
