Use the ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini plan you already pay for to run your store
If you pay for a ChatGPT, Claude or Google AI plan, you already have a model that can write your listings and answer your customers. Used as a chat, it stops at the answer. You ask, copy the answer, open Shopify or Seller Central, and paste it in. The same model can do the pasting too, and all the clicking around it, once it has a browser and access to your store's admin. This guide covers what that changes, how to set it up on the plan you already have, and where a person still needs to look.
What ChatGPT already does well for ecommerce
As a plain chat, these models earn their fee on writing and thinking work. Jobs sellers often hand them:
- First drafts of product titles, descriptions and bullet points
- Replies to customer emails and reviews, in a calmer tone than most of us manage at 11pm
- Summaries of a supplier's spec sheet or a long marketplace policy page
- Cleaning up an order export or a pricing spreadsheet
- Names for products and bundles, subject lines for emails
None of that is wasted. The trouble starts after the answer arrives.
Where the copy-paste loop costs you
A plain chat doesn't reach your store. Every answer still has to be carried by hand to the place it belongs.
- Listings. You copy the description, open a new product in your admin, paste it, pick a category, fill in the variants, upload the photos and save. Then you start over for the next product.
- Reviews and messages. Each one goes into the chat and comes back out. Say you get 20 reviews a day. That is 40 trips between two tabs before you have read a single reply properly.
- Images. You generate a photo, download it, resize it for each marketplace and upload it again.
- Orders and tracking. A chat can barely help here. Confirming orders and typing in tracking numbers is screen work.
The writing got faster. The carrying didn't, and it grows with every product you add.
What changes when the model works as an agent
An AI agent is a model that can use tools. It looks at the screen, decides the next step, takes it, and keeps going until the job is done. AI agents for ecommerce explains the idea in more depth. The model stays the same. What it gains is hands. For a store, those are a browser, your admin, the files on your computer, and a schedule so work can start without you.
With those, the listing job above goes like this:
- You send a product photo and one sentence, for example "List this on Shopify at $34, three colors."
- The agent opens your Shopify admin, writes the title and description, uploads the photos and fills in the variants.
- Before it publishes, it stops and shows you what it is about to put live.
- You read it, fix anything that is off, and give the OK. Only then does the listing go up.
| Job | Chat | Agent |
|---|---|---|
| New listing | Writes the copy, you paste it and fill the form | Fills the form in your admin and asks before publishing |
| Reviews and messages | Drafts one reply at a time | Answers in your voice and shows you the bad ones first |
| Orders and tracking | Can't reach them | Confirms orders, prints labels, enters tracking numbers |
| Product images | Makes an image you download and resize | Makes product photos and banners in the sizes each marketplace asks for |
| Stock and prices | Answers if you paste the numbers in | Keeps stock in sync across stores and checks competitor prices on a schedule |
Because it works on the same screens you do, it doesn't need the marketplace to offer an API. That is a trade-off. For pulling in a large volume of orders, a proper API integration is the sturdier tool, and the two sit fine side by side. APIs vs browser AI agents goes through where each one fits.
Doing it with Yomates, step by step
Yomates is a free desktop app from Leviosa AI that runs a small team of these agents on your computer, each one driving a real browser you can watch. Other tools are set up differently, but the steps give a fair picture of what the job involves.
- Install the app. It runs on Apple Silicon Macs, Windows PCs and Debian-based Linux, and it is free to download and use.
- Connect the plan you have. Sign in with your ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini plan, or paste an API key. There is no new AI subscription to buy.
- Sign in to your store. Open Shopify, Amazon Seller Central or wherever you sell in the agent's browser and sign in, right in front of you. Passwords live in an encrypted vault on your computer or in 1Password, and the agent fills them in without ever reading them.
- Hand over a job. The team starts with three: Daniel the manager, Mina the designer and Junho the content creator. Give Daniel something big and he briefs the others and reports back in one message. If you need a support rep or a bookkeeper, describe one in a sentence.
- Watch and approve. You can see the browser as it works and take the keyboard back at any moment. Anything that publishes, submits or sends waits for your OK.
- Put repeat work on a schedule. Orders and stock at 8am, new messages every hour, a report on Monday morning.
Images work differently from the rest. Product photos and edits are made with GPT Image 2 or Nano Banana Pro through Yomates and paid in credits, and so is video, while the agents' own work stays on your plan. Booking a 30-minute call gets you 1,000 free credits. AI product photos covers that side in detail.
Which model for which job
We won't tell you one model is the best for running a store. Models change often, the same one can do well on one site and stumble on the next, and a ranking from us would be out of date soon after you read it. Your own store is a better test.
- Start with the plan you already pay for. Finding out costs nothing extra.
- Try it on a small real job first, like one listing or ten review replies.
- If you have two plans, give both the same job and keep the one whose work you would rather publish.
- Every plan has its own usage allowance, and a long agent job can use more of it than a quick chat. Check your provider's limits before you schedule heavy routines.
Is it safe? Approvals, logins and limits
- Nothing goes live without your OK. Publishing a listing, submitting a form or sending a reply stops at a confirmation card first. Read it. A model can get a price or a variant wrong, and the card is where you catch that.
- Logins stay on your machine. Passwords and sign-ins never leave your computer. Chats, notes and skills can be backed up to your account.
- Your computer has to be on. This is not a cloud service. When you are out, message the agents on Telegram and they do the work on the computer and answer in the same chat.
- Some steps need you. A verification code texted to your phone, for instance.
- Watch the first run on a new site. Agents write themselves a skill once they have worked a site out. You can also record yourself doing a job in the browser, and the agent will do the same thing and offer to keep it as a skill.
Yomates has no partnership with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. It runs on whichever plan or API key you connect. If you try one thing this week, pick the job you copied and pasted most and hand that over. The app is on the Yomates home page.
Questions
Can ChatGPT run my online store?
Used as a plain chat, ChatGPT answers and you carry the result into your store. Connected to an agent app with a browser, the same model can work in your store's admin, list products, answer messages and enter tracking numbers, and stop for your OK before anything goes live.
Do I need a new AI subscription to use Yomates?
No. Yomates runs on the ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini plan you already have, or on an API key. The app is free. Product photos (GPT Image 2 or Nano Banana Pro) and video are made through Yomates and use credits.
Is ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini better for ecommerce?
There is no fixed answer, and it shifts as the models change. Start with the plan you pay for, test it on a small real job in your own store, and compare if you have more than one plan.
Is it safe to give an AI agent my Seller Central or Shopify login?
In Yomates, logins sit in an encrypted vault on your computer or in 1Password, and the agent fills them in without reading them. Passwords and sign-ins never leave your machine, and nothing is published, submitted or sent without your OK.
Does it keep working when my computer is off?
No. Yomates runs on your own computer, so the computer has to be on. While you are out you can still message the agents on Telegram.
Is Yomates made by OpenAI, Anthropic or Google?
No. Yomates is made by Leviosa AI and has no partnership with OpenAI, Anthropic or Google.
