Claude Duet alternatives for small business owners who can't get in yet

Updated · Leviosa AI

In shortAs of October 2026, Claude Duet is a research preview for US accounts on paid Claude plans, by invitation from a waitlist. If you're outside the US or still waiting, OpenAI's dots and Grok Bot are the nearest cloud agents that keep working while your laptop is closed. Yomates is a desktop app whose agents run on your Claude plan, or a ChatGPT or Gemini plan, in a browser you watch on your own computer. None of them copies Duet exactly, so choose by the part of Duet you wanted.

Claude Duet is open, as of October 2026, only to US accounts on paid Claude plans, by invitation from a waitlist. If you can't get in, the nearest cloud agents are OpenAI's dots and Grok Bot, which also keep working while your laptop is closed. If what drew you to Duet was putting your Claude plan to work on your business, Yomates runs a team of agents on that plan, in a browser on your own computer. None of them is a copy of Duet, so start from the part of Duet you actually wanted.

Leviosa AI makes Yomates and wrote this page. What we say about Duet and the other agents comes from their makers' own pages as of October 2026, linked where we use them. We haven't used Duet. It is a preview and will change.

What Claude Duet is

Anthropic announced Duet on October 21, 2026 as a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent. From Anthropic's own pages, as of October 2026:

  • Duet works on a cloud computer with its own browser, so your laptop and phone don't need to be on.
  • Each morning it sends a short brief on what matters across your connected apps, and it checks those accounts every few hours.
  • It can use the more than 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace, such as Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks and HubSpot, and its own cloud browser for sites without one.
  • Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows the exact action and waits for your approval.
  • Some actions stay off-limits even if you approve them, such as moving money between accounts, and a separate automated check runs on every action, as its safety page explains.
  • It carries over your memory, skills and connected apps from your Claude account.

Of the personal agents we read about, that is the strictest approval design. It is the main thing to miss if you go elsewhere.

Who can get it, and what it doesn't do yet

Anthropic's getting-started page sets out the terms of the preview, as of October 2026.

  • US only, on paid Claude plans, by invitation from a waitlist. Invitations go out in waves, and joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee a date.
  • Its background work, such as the morning brief and check-ins, counts toward your plan's usage limits, so you may hit them sooner.
  • It is a phone app for iPhone and Android. On a computer you open it on the web.
  • You can't watch it work in its browser or take the browser over.
  • It can't see the files on your computer.
  • It runs only on Claude Opus 5.5, and it doesn't make phone calls or send text messages to other people.
  • Before launch, Anthropic gave several large websites the option to block Duet, and some did.

Alternatives, by what you wanted from Duet

Work that continues while your laptop is closed

This is what Duet shares with the other cloud agents, and the one thing a desktop app can't give you. All as of October 2026.

  • Dots from OpenAI each have their own cloud computer and browser and keep working while your devices are off. You can open the computer and take over, which Duet doesn't allow yet. Dots need certain paid ChatGPT plans and run on GPT-6 Astra. The individual plan that includes them isn't offered in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland.
  • Grok Bot from xAI runs your Bots on a cloud computer you can watch live, and they keep working with your laptop closed. It comes with paid X, Grok and Cursor plans. All your Bots share that one computer and its logins.
  • Muse for Small Business from Meta connects to Instagram, Facebook Pages and Meta ad accounts. It is open in the US and Canada only.

Your Claude plan, put to work

If you pay for Claude and want that plan doing your business work, not only answering chats, these use it, as of October 2026.

  • Yomates runs on a Claude plan, or a ChatGPT or Google AI plan, or an API key. The app is free, and the agents' own work costs nothing beyond your plan. It runs on Apple Silicon Macs, Windows and Debian-based Linux.
  • OpenClaw can reuse a Claude CLI login. It is free and open source, but you host it, and its docs call an API key the safer path for Anthropic in production.
  • Hermes Agent takes a Claude subscription only on the higher paid plan with extra usage bought on top.

Help running a store

As of October 2026, Anthropic's launch post names Stripe, Gusto, Canva and Shopify among Duet's connectors. It works through connectors, and through its own cloud browser for sites that have none. Yomates works on the screens you use. Each agent drives a real browser inside the app on your computer and works in your seller center the way you would, so a marketplace with no API is no obstacle. It lists products from a photo and a sentence, confirms orders and enters tracking numbers, answers reviews and messages in your voice, and makes product photos, banners and short videos. The team starts with Daniel the manager, Mina the designer and Junho the content creator, and you can add a support rep or a bookkeeper in one sentence.

Approvals you can trust

As of October 2026, no alternative here matches Duet's approval rules point for point. Grok Bot has approval cards with Allow once, Always allow and Deny, plus a model-based Auto Review that checks actions first. Dots have an auto-review step and per-action rules you set. Muse asks before sensitive actions through a separate process, Sentinel, that gates everything it sends out. Yomates stops for your OK before anything is published, submitted or sent, and you watch the browser while it works.

Where Yomates falls short of Duet

As of October 2026, Duet keeps working when your laptop is shut, and Yomates doesn't. The computer has to be on and the app open. When you're out, you can message the agents on Telegram and they do the work on the computer. Duet's approval rules also go further than an OK card, with actions that stay blocked even when you approve them. If those two matter more to you than watching the browser and picking which AI runs your agents, wait for Duet.

If you do join the waitlist, one detail is worth knowing. As of October 2026, Anthropic gives people admitted to the preview one full reset of their usage limits, usable until November 30, 2026.

Can I watch Claude Duet work in its browser?

Is Yomates made by Anthropic?

No. Yomates is made by Leviosa AI and has no partnership with Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. It runs on whichever plan or API key you connect.
